Q. I have flakes in my hair and scalp and sometimes I see them on my clothes too. I have used dandruff shampoos but still have flakes. What can I do?
A. Dandruff and flaking is caused from many conditions.Oily scalp, dry scalp, not shampooing the hair enough, climate changes and some chemicals too. Many dandruff shampoos can not cover all these conditions. It is wise to seek professional help.
Q. I have been told that natural things like olive oil, mayonnaise, eggs, etc. are good for my hair. Is this true?
A. Many natural things are very good for your hair and scalp. However, they may not be so good for your hair and scalp in their natural state. Natural substances can work more effectively when they are refined so that they can be absorbed into the hair and help to balance the scalp.
Q. I have had weaves and braids for over 2 years. My hair is natural and it has grown a lot. Now I want a relaxer, is it safe?
A. It can be safe as long as you shampoo and condition the hair for 3 to 4 weeks in a row.You will blow dry and possibly press or flat iron the hair until it is ready for a relaxer. Do not come out of weaves or braids and relax the hair right away. Also if color was applied during the 2 year period you should add more time before considering a relaxer.
